On Wednesday 19th November I attended the Devon Primary Care Trust. I had previously submitted a question on Mental Health. Dr Radford chaired the meeting and in his address stated that he expected services to be open and transparent. He had referred my question to the Devon Partnership who had replied to him by letter.-
" Services for mental health patients who need extra care would be cared for on the Oak Unit at Torbay Hospital. The Unit comprised of two single sex wards. The Unit has emergency facilities on site. Also the Occupational Health support is located at Torbay Hospital as too are the laboratories. There is a courtyard situated off the ward where patients can take fresh air. Also a family area for children to visit separate from the wards".
Please e-mail me if I can help further.

Flooding Measures taken at Sandygate
"As a result of the flooding incident in May Devon County Council Highway Management have worked with the developer and Watts Blake and Bearne in order to improve the drainage in the area of Sandygate Bridge. Works were carried out to install a new piped easement through the hedge and to formalize a second easement which originally had been an existing disused access.
There are highway drainage gullies in this area however, as they outfall into the stream they will not work if the stream is in spate and flooding.
The main cause for the flooding at Sandygate Bridge was the water in the road was trapped by the hedge bank, stopping it from flowing into the adjacent field and then back into the stream. It is our view that the newly installed features will reduce the risk of the flooding reoccurring to an acceptable level and in all but the most extreme conditions will prevent further flooding of the adjacent properties".
